Titel: [OOC] New Player/Player has disconnected messages

Hi,
The left hand side of my monitor is getting burn-in from all the writing
The red writing also gets in the way of my reticule and sometimes I have trouble aiming in that area of the screen.
I absolutely love the /set diemsg option, and I would like to know if a similar toggle on the New Player/Player has disconnected messages is a popular choice.
If you read this message, please vote (even if it's to state no preference). It takes no time at all, but it really helps in getting a profile of the people's feelings on the subject.
Many thanks,
Halogen |

Hi Halogen
If I have kept it properly in my mind, then this feature is technical not possible.
Our FLHook god mc_horst can tell you further details about it. |

Technically impossible. I can replace the "Departing Player" messages and substitute them by new ones. However i can't remove the "New Player" messages, because they are generated client-side and when i remove the "new player notification"(which is sent to the client) the corresponding player won't be shown in the chatlist... |

Thank you very much for the fast & informed response.
It sounds like it is possible to go some way towards a solution, especially in the "Departing Player" area. It would be very cool if that'd be an option in the next mod.
Since the "New player notification" cannot be eliminated completely, what would need to happen to change the full message to a full stop (.) or something like that with a very small screen footprint? |

You would have to patch the client dlls locally. I guess thats not worth the effort... |

Thank you again for the response.
I'm not sure what patching the client dlls involves, but if it's a case of
- place a file in a specific location
- run a command line/edit the registry manually
it wouldn't be a big problem for me.
Of course, it's not all about my side of the effort -- from your message I am assuming there is a bunch of work that needs to be done by someone who knows what they're doing...
I guess it depends on the level of interest this issue picks up. Given that at the moment only 6 (six) votes were registered against 126 views of the topic, I can only conclude that the level of indolence regarding this issue is quite high.
Thank you for your time on this matter.
Regards, |
