Greetz all !

I know similar topic allready exists but its all in german and more or less of things like. Lets make 1 more cruiser like half battleship or something.
Well i dont like to overpower capital ships cause i like to use more fighters and dont want fighting balance gets hurt, so making rheinland cruiser with flaks or normal turrets sounds sensless(beace we have battleship) or making cruiser with same guns like liberty cruiser also sounds sensless because we got liberty cruiser for that.

But i wouldnt mind seeing rheinland cruiser in space but question is what would be that cruiser role in the battle, so my idea comed out when i saw new Why485 movie about vertical missle launch so i was thinking what about if rheinland cruiser would have this option, long range bombing the base or capital ships but again almost defensless against fighters. This long range could have damage like 2000 hull damage 5k range and 1.00 refire ratio.

So to show the concept check video below and imagine Rhineland cruiser of course our missles wouldnt lock so good but enough to hit slowly moving ships, kinda like torps.

Damn! Looks great tho, but it`s the Itano Circus Modification, so I guess thats not possible (well, with those Graphics).The concept sounds not bad, but:What the Hell would you do with a normal Liberty Cruiser then? Then Rheinland Kreuzer (Cruiser) could attack without any Danger of Flak Turrets.

So:Cool Idea, but...how to balance it?

well liberty cruiser got far more damage impact on hit, rheinland cruiser would have lower damage but long range bombing... Idea was also that rheinland cruiser could neutralize enemy base turrets, so fighters can near it and attack, right now fighters are not really a match against base Very Happy

as about implementation it is possible since we allready have few addons like battleship explosions and flaks and you can get modification which can change torp visual effect as seen in the video above.

Would be nice if there is the possibility to destroy the missiles before they hit the base.
I'd also prefer 4K range than 5k.

yeah! artillery ship! great! close range combat: clan BS, long range: that cool thing.
it looks great when its going up like this, like a javelin rocket launcher - fire and forget
as skin we could use a normal torp or sunslayer torp, and with the big flames mod.... WHOW!!!
if its possible, it would be great.

2k damage and 5k rang is, so i think, a little bit overpowert
thats more damage then a Lancer Missile... on a higher refire rate
But the concept sounds nice, and the vid is nice, too!

Well. You don't have to buy it, you don't have to defend bases. (This cruiser won't be designed as a Anti-Fighter-Vessel,
so if you are lucky you don't even have to see it only once.)


@ Syd
A Lancer missile is kinda useless against bases, you would need thousands of them to destroy one.
Like I said this cruiser is no Anti-Fighter-Vessel, so it's actually weak. Actually, but you have a higher range which makes him stronger.
You will still need some time to get a hostile cruiser/battleship/base down.
The cruiser should cost 20 mil, my opinion.

Its not about playing on fancy ships its to make battles keep interesting and overall dynamic, not just always same. Personaly i dont fly cruiser, i like fighters but i dont mind if people want to use what freelancer has to offer. HC server is good cause it got no strict rules who will shoot who and clans make their own politics, so please dont recomment me discovery thing when i will look behind my back if admins will ban me if i bash my enemy ...

Ammunition as i see he got unlimited on the vid, refire rate, damage and range can be modified to most fair balance, torpedos could be distrupted... above is just a concept to see what is possible, i didnt made topic to add new capital ships, rheinland cruiser is freelancer ship which Microsoft in rush to release didnt put it in gameplay. With this concept we wouldnt lose players who like to pvp cause this would be another kind of cruiser that got no impact on combat vs fighters
Lets face it we got people who like to play as captains of some capital ship, why not if they are not overpowered and unbalanced in combat view and i like freelancer evolving and adding new things that makes people keep interested playing.

Anyway, i don't see how this can do things any worse. No matter who to kill - lamer on cruiser or lamer on long-range cruiser. And it looks kinda nice.

i came here because it looks like normal freelancer and the feautures dont affect this very much. i would prefer if the liberty cruiser comes out of the mod, because in my oppinion we dont need it.

this is a very good idea!
and shooting just one shot would give more or less an epic feeling instead of spamming with this artillery.

why not making basewars more interesting ? with those features u need a lot of tactic and base attack look much more epic
