Recruit more admins ?

Any chance of recruiting some more FL admins that actually play the game ? Or server police ?

I say this because there is never any admins online and everyone has to post in the forum or leave a pm if they get any problems.

If the problem is serious you take the time and write a PM or a post.
Just imagine: Someone is really angry because of something (or someone) and he wants him to be punished. Now we have to ways.

1. You go the the forum and write in post. In the meanwhile you recognize that your anger has no point and that your enemy didn't do anything. So you'll delete what you're writing and start to play again.

2. An admin or SP is online. You write to him that someone piss you off and that he is a cheater/lamer/buguser/whatever. The admin knows that there is nothing wrong and tells you. You're even more pissed off and so on ...

Yes but on other hand like tonight, the server had red lag and then everyone had bad lag on their connection. But the server stayed like this for about 40mins before it was restarted. So its not just problems with other players online, it could be stuff like restarting the server, or kicking a player for uber lag who apparently doesnt violate the connection limit etc.

I agree admins should have secret chars, i know i did when i owned a freelancer server

But it might be good for the comunity if admins did come online from time to time with an admin char.

All you/we can do is to report the adminteam our request for more ingame work. If they cant or didn't want to do this we have to accept the status quo.

i have to admit that i like the idea of admins who play from time to time with us on the server.

There might be some undercover admins that are not working in the public as kirki.
Problem with having active players as admins is that they will always be accused of working for the "enemy". kirki is still known as oia-admin

I have been part of a secret admin team but we were accused of kicking anti-pirates to make space for pirates when server was full.
In the end Niwo did the job alone again to make everyone happy.
I won't expect an admin being online at nights, so when you have lag at 3 am i suggest you just go to bed :-P

Serverpolice = Player = suxx because Community suxx
Playing Admins who are Clanmembers = Flame from Community or
Admins who kick enemies for no reason, because they don´t like them

Pitch.. if you want the admins to have a look on a special situation.. its better if they are undercover than with official adminchar.. because otherwise they would behave.. like parents are watching their children on playground.

You're right. its "their" and "our" server.. and its their job.. and they are doing them.. for free..

but u dont get my point. Pitch wanted to have playing admins. And as normal players.. admins normally only would play, if they are allowed to play.. PLAY:. not gotten spammed by every player with a issue.

A comprise could be that admins pronounce some kind of "ingame Chat Hour" (or better 20-30mins .. maximum.. a day or even week should work) or something like that.. then they meet in a special system and answer the thousands of questions..

But i also see a big problem with ingame "helping". Because most common problems are already discussed in forum.. and most time people simply doesnt know what to look for or are to stupid to find it.
In this cases the ingame help is very complicated...

When ever I am near my Computer I will here the IRC sounds if the words Nosfi or Admin are sent through the UV Chat

Yesterdays situation literally asked for admins presence. Server almost fell down, but it didnt. Since then strange lag started to spread all over the place. If there are for example admin chars seen in game I can say that everybody will think twice before he starts to cheat or break the rules and thats the point.

well.. would not the first uv ban a player gets

Poison got a uv ban.. that player spamed "Ente Ente.." got uv ban from wodka ^^ (cool situation.. wodi via irc chat: "ok, he's banned".. everyone celebrating) ^^ And for example die~hard+fighter had also a uv-ban.

The idea wont work, bad behavior will always be if admins are in or not in server, thats why forms are made. In my old server admins had stealth ships, and just beam them self's very fast to watch players, even then cheaters did there thing...

From my side it looks like this that admins have their own private lives and i respect it - people, don't make them slaves of this game or server just because you are one... Admins make anything they can do into their capability, respect at least that.
